Community Investment Strategy
Robertson Surrette’s goal is
to help Atlantic Canadians “build great companies”
in our region. As an organization, our diverse team
of over 30 professionals, working in offices across
the four Atlantic provinces believes that good corporate
citizenship fosters positive relationships in our communities
and ultimately results in the creation of “great
companies”.
Charity of Choice
Our current community investment strategy
involves the selection of an annual “Charity of
Choice” for each major region in which we operate.
This process involves a team of Robertson Surrette employees
working with the management team to decide the cause
they wish to support. After a long and intensive review
of many organizations, we have made our selections for
both our Nova Scotia and New Brunswick operations.
Nova Scotia
We are pleased to support Prescott Group as our “Charity of Choice” for Nova Scotia. Prescott Group is an agency that
combines the operation of small business enterprises
with programs and services for adult clients who are
intellectually challenged. Clients of this organization
are provided with a variety of training and job opportunities
designed to develop skills and promote independence.
In turn, customers of Prescott Group are provided with
a wide range of products and services.
Prescott Group is operated by the
Halifax Adult Services Society, a non-profit organization
with charitable status. The agency's beginnings date
back to 1962. Above all, the organization strives to
provide an environment that fosters dignity, respect
and a sense of pride.
In lending our support to this organization,
part of our commitment involves the employment of one
of their clients. In addition, we will be working with
the Board of Directors to explore ways to increase awareness
and raise funds for Prescott Group’s programs
and services. To learn more about this organization
visit their website at www.prescottgroup.ca.
New Brunswick
We are pleased to support the Northrop Frye Literary Festival as our “Charity of Choice” for New Brunswick. Known as one
of the major literary events in Canada, the Northrop
Frye International Literary Festival began in April
2000 and continues to grow in prestige and popularity
each year. As the only bilingual festival east of Montreal,
the 2005 event taking place April 20 – 24th will
feature the works of forty authors from the Atlantic
Region, across the country and around the world sharing
their works of poetry, prose and drama.
In lending our support to this organization,
we have taken the role as presenting sponsor for the
first annual “Kidsfest” portion of Festival
and are actively promoting the festival to the business
community via presentations and receptions in the Moncton
area. To learn more about this festival visit their
website at www.northropfrye.com.
