“Books for Kids” a Resounding Success

Pierre Battah of Robertson
Surrette makes presentation of "Books for Kids"
to Peggy Wheaton of the Moncton Hospital Pediatric
Unit.

Over 50 guests turned out as Robertson
Surrette celebrated its role as presenting sponsor of
the Northrop Frye International Literary Festival “Kidsfest”
and marked the culmination of the firm’s first-ever
“Books For Kids” program in the Moncton
area.
The reception, which took place on
Wednesday, April 6th at McKenzie College Art Gallery,
was a follow-up to a networking presentation given by
Pierre Battah at a recent HRANB meeting inviting human
resource professionals and friends of the firm to join
together in support of this worthwhile initiative.
The results were astounding. Not only did the business
community show up to support the event, but during the
month-long campaign over 350 books were collected to
donate to the pediatric units of the two major hospitals.
Special guests in attendance included Dawn Arnold, Chair
of the Northrop Frye Literary Festival; Peggy Wheaton
from the Moncton Hospital Pediatric Unit and Murielle
Wade from the Georges L. Dumont Hospital.
As host and partner responsible for NB and PEI operations
for the firm, Battah encouraged guests to participate
in the upcoming festival and thanked them for their
tremendous support of the “Books for Kids”
initiative. Superb musical entertainment was provided
by “trio Carte Blanche”, a jazz trio from
the Moncton area.
Known as one of the major literary events in Canada,
the Northrop Frye International Literary Festival began
in April 2000 and continues to grow in prestige and
popularity each year. As the only bilingual festival
east of Montreal, the 2005 event taking place April
19 – 24th will feature the works of forty authors
from the Atlantic Region, across the country and around
the world sharing their works of poetry, prose and drama.
