Robertson Surrette takes home hardware at annual Dragon Boat festival

It’s all about focus and having fun.  Speak to team captain, April Howe-Diplock and she’s quick to share her perspective on the winning spirit of Robertson Surrette’s DieHRds. “We wanted to do well – but always kept the fun factor high on the agenda as well, “said Howe-Diplock.  The team came away from the event with a 3rd place finish in the "C" finals, securing the Communications Cup. 

The Manulife Dragon Boat Festival is an organized Fundraiser in support of the Nova Scotia Amateur Sport Fund. Teams of 20 people, plus a drummer who keeps the beat of the stroke, will paddle Dragon Boats down the lake in a series of fun and friendly races. Dragon boats are very stable, and the races only last a minute or two, making it a perfect event for everyone - even a team of beginners!

In addition to a healthy dose of team spirit – the group of highly competitive athletes trained hard together to prepare for the big event.  Being master recruiters – the team managed to pull in support from some valued clients and friends rounding out the team of 20 paddlers required. The team raised $1430 in total!   Well done!
